'ilkley moor'
for many years the thought of moving ‘up norf’ did not fit into any future plans for me, however, a sequence of events led me to re-think my life in london; a place that had become too noisy, rushed and dirty.
still an outsider, my wife jo is leeds born, now i appreciate the virtues of living in yorkshire – the pace, friendliness of people (on the whole), accessibility to city and coastal areas and a definite feeling of ‘on the up’ creatively. my work has explored the landscapes around me at times both urban and natural, even in recent text-based work the landscape is returning.
'ilkley moor' was created in the first few months in yorkshire, a day out (during covid times), walking across the moor and the three cows, i felt i had to capture the essence of the space, colours and light. it holds a very special memory for me.
