‘intertextuality’

stranger than kindness.

a very special evening spent in the presence of nick cave — easily in my top ten gigs. i found myself completely lost in the moment, suspended somewhere between lyric and atmosphere. i suppose this work carries that feeling.

intertextuality is the idea that no artwork stands alone. every text is shaped by another — through quotation, allusion, parody, homage, translation, pastiche. art speaks to art. songs echo poems. images borrow from images.

nothing exists in isolation. everything is, in some way, a patchwork of cultural memory.

this piece embraces that exchange. it creates something new while openly acknowledging what came before. meaning is layered — shaped not only by what is placed on the surface, but by what the viewer brings with them.

like music drifting through a darkened room, it resonates differently depending on who is listening.

pure is an ongoing exploration of short phrases and sentences. simple at first glance, each piece conceals a complex process of colour selection, positioning, and the relationship between word and surface.

there’s a saying that a picture paints a thousand words but sometimes a phrase, carefully chosen and precisely arranged, can spark just as many questions, or lead you on an unexpected journey. it all depends on the words themselves, and the order in which they are placed. creating vivid imagery from my weirdly fascinating mind is an adventure and it is not always pure.

or perhaps the words simply exist to make you smile.
