'metric'
some years ago, i painted a pair of large canvases depicting my right hand giving 'it large' gestures - one using the traditional two fingers ('imperial') and one using just my middle finger ('metric'), i loved them, so i thought i would reuse the title in this series of work, utilising text rather than visuals
mad as a box of frogs is an eclectic series of original works intricately contained within a defined box frame size. the words and phrases used may resonate with people, situations, or even abstract concepts. the content often weaves together elements of humour and confrontational themes. many pieces creatively manipulate the shape and form of the text itself, drawing the viewer's attention. the artwork explores various themes through a mixed media approach. while the phrase evokes a visual image, it is not meant to be taken literally.
it serves as a figure of speech that reflects the work that excites me and ideally captivates the viewer as well.
