'rave on'
i was never part of the rave scene, more recently owing to tv coverage and spotify i have started listening to rave/trance music in the studio as a backdrop, not totally convinced to be honest. this was also a response to some work i had seen by dan pearce and other urban artist producing modern versions of acid smiley. also, my son had a couple of stickers lying around for an art project, and after some research, i was able to purchase a smiley condom, which related to previous work - the linchpin for this piece.
mad as a box of frogs is an eclectic series of original works intricately contained within a defined box frame size. the words and phrases used may resonate with people, situations, or even abstract concepts. the content often weaves together elements of humour and confrontational themes. many pieces creatively manipulate the shape and form of the text itself, drawing the viewer's attention. the artwork explores various themes through a mixed media approach. while the phrase evokes a visual image, it is not meant to be taken literally.
it serves as a figure of speech that reflects the work that excites me and ideally captivates the viewer as well.
