'scrablling around'
my dad loves scrabble, he is in fact almost unbeaten in over 30 years in our family. my mum beat him a couple of times over 10 years ago, for that we made her a certificate! more recently, everytime i visit him in the care home i set up a game, i have one on a couple of occassions, at 92 he is slowing down, his movement not his mind and i must confess his vocabulary and word usage is fucking fantastic, it's a shame his playing partner (my mum) has dimentia and playing is almost impossible.
this piece is a nod to the enjoyment of playing against him.
mad as a box of frogs is an eclectic series of original works intricately contained within a defined box frame size. the words and phrases used may resonate with people, situations, or even abstract concepts. the content often weaves together elements of humour and confrontational themes. many pieces creatively manipulate the shape and form of the text itself, drawing the viewer's attention. the artwork explores various themes through a mixed media approach. while the phrase evokes a visual image, it is not meant to be taken literally.
it serves as a figure of speech that reflects the work that excites me and ideally captivates the viewer as well.
