'the truth is ...'

have i been found out or just self realisation, who knows. i came up with the phrase of art by an average artist and drew out the text - trying to work out a colour scheme and not putting my finger on one particular idea it popped into my head; a self portrait, i have produced a number of these over the years (e.g. https://www.paultalbotart.com/product-page/red-indian) and it felt right to explore this again, a little self-indulgent i know, but historically, artists have explored this theme.

artists create self-portraits for a variety of reasons, including exploring their identity and emotions, documenting a specific time in their life, showcasing their skills, and experimenting with artistic techniques. self-portraits can serve as a historical record, a visual diary, a professional "calling card" to display their abilities, or a personal psychological exploration.

part of the pure series that explores short phrases or sentences. they are simple to look at, yet they can hide a complex process of colour choices, positioning and relationship to the text. there's a saying that a picture paints a thousand words, but sometimes a phrase or a selection of words can raise questions or take you on a journey. it all depends on the words used and what order they are placed. It's an adventure creating vivid images from my weirdly fascinating mind, which is not always pure!

or in fact, the words just might make you smile
